When my dream career slipped out of reach, I had to face the consequences of my actions and discover a new path.
Everything happens for a reason, and when something is destined, it happens. The career I was meant to pursue wasn’t what I originally had in mind, yet it found me.
My parents brought my siblings and me from El Salvador when I was 4, and we landed in a Hollywood apartment, living on the ghetto side of Los Angeles. Maybe it was the influence of Hollywood movies, but I always wanted to be in law enforcement—specifically, the FBI. I went to San Diego State to study criminal justice, determined to make my dream a reality. However, at 19, I made the mistake of drinking underage and getting caught, which made me immediately ineligible for the FBI. It was a tough lesson, and I had to live with the consequences of my actions.
I returned to California and enrolled in junior college, feeling lost. My dream of joining the FBI had ended before it even started, and at the same time, I realized school wasn’t for me. I wanted to go straight into the workforce. Being social by nature, I figured bartending would be a good fit for me—and it was! I loved talking to people, hearing their stories while making them drinks, and watching them have a good time. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed in the nightclub industry for 13 years.
Destiny knocked on my door when my brother-in-law reached out. He was a REALTOR®, and his wife—my sister—owned an escrow company. He invited me to assist him in his business, which I did, until I realized I could get licensed too and run my own.
I got my REALTOR® license in 2007, doing real estate during the day and bartending at night. I entered the business just as the real estate market crashed, and suddenly, everything slowed down. I had no choice but to adapt. I knocked on doors, found new ways to market myself, and did everything I could to stay afloat. However, it was tough—deals weren’t closing, and I was losing my savings.
I was a full time REALTOR® starting in 2009 and continued bartending to make ends meet. I slowly grew my real estate business, waiting for the economic recession to pass, and my persistence paid off. In 2012, I was able to stop bartending at night and focus completely on my real estate business. I got my broker’s license 4 years later with the intention of eventually building my own team.
Life is a bit calmer now. I have 2 dogs that I love taking on road trips across California. In 2021, I met Lizbeth online, and after years of dating, we’re about to get married! You’ll often find me hiking with her, camping together, or hitting the gym. As a dog lover, I also donate to a local dog shelter—it’s my way of giving back.
Looking back, I believe it was for the best that I didn’t go into law enforcement. We’re all here to do something meaningful, and when someone chooses me as their REALTOR®, I know we’re crossing paths for a reason. I take my responsibility seriously, committed to providing a meaningful service. Real estate has given me the chance to change lives, and for that, I’m grateful.
Seeing my clients happy is what drives me. When we work together, they can expect a genuine, friendly REALTOR®—and many even become friends after the transaction. I take my role as a fiduciary seriously, always respecting budget limits and negotiating deals that align with my clients' goals. Whether it takes months or even years, I’m committed to finding the right fit and never rush the
process.
Time management is one of my strengths. I’m always punctual, prepared, and focused on making the most of every meeting. While I specialize in residential and luxury properties, I welcome clients from all backgrounds, bringing understanding and respect for their unique circumstances.
Another key strength is my attention to detail, especially when it comes to contracts. I carefully review every line before sending it over, ensuring accuracy and clarity. I take the time to explain the contract directly to my clients, making sure they fully understand every term. My goal is to provide a seamless, well-managed experience from start to finish.
Sincerely,
